Fresh, frenetic, and self-deprecating to a fault, Don Friesen’s comedy is outrageously physical yet thoroughly relatable. Don’s willingness to admit his flaws and exploit them for maximum comedic potential has a way of not only entertaining, but at the same time tapping into the humanity in all of us. It’s a uniquely fun, clever, and clean act with an incredibly broad appeal—an act that has earned him rave reviews and die-hard fans throughout the country.
Growing up in Fresno, CA, Don was a bright and somewhat hyperkinetic baseball fan who idolized Willie Mays and dreamed of someday playing centerfield for the San Francisco Giants. Unfortunately, being a late bloomer who couldn’t hit a curve ball, Don’s dream died an early and relatively unceremonious death at the Bullard High School tryout camp.
Fortunately, he also idolized Bill Cosby. As a child, Don would check out Cosby’s albums from the library, memorize the routines, and wear them out on whoever he could get to listen (mostly his kid sister.) Later, in his teens, he would do the same with Steve Martin albums, eventually moving on to Woody Allen, Robert Klein, and his biggest influence, Monty Python.
But despite his lifelong passion for comedy, Friesen was a shy kid from Fresno who never even remotely considered that this was something he could do for a living. After high school (and a brief stint in junior college) Don went directly into the work force, trying his hand at everything from busboy, security guard, cab driver, Rainbow Vacuum salesman, and commercial real estate agent, just to name a few. Eventually he regretted skipping college and decided to go back, earning his business degree at USC. It was there that his career took an unexpected turn… As a senior with some electives to burn, Don took an improv class and discovered that, along with his passion for comedy, he also had quite a knack for it. He loved it so much that he started a campus improv troupe called Comedus Interruptus, and his fledgling comedy career was off and running.
After graduation, Don began doing stand-up at open mikes in Los Angeles. Around this time, he met his wife Jill, and in less than a year they were married. After a couple of years of cutting his teeth at open mikes, Don realized that the best way to continue growing as a comic was to go on the road, so in January of 1995, he loaded up his Chevy Nova and began tirelessly touring America. Friesen’s first year on the road, he logged over 50,000 miles on his car, and slept in it countless times, but it definitely turned out to be worth it, as he discovered that the combination of non-stop writing and non-stop performing were quickly enabling him to find his comic voice.
Since then Don’s career has soared. He quickly became a national headliner, and in 1999, he won the prestigious San Francisco International Comedy Competition, the same competition that helped launch the careers of Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, Ellen DeGeneres, and Sinbad. Other career highlights include getting such a great response on his first network TV appearance—the Martin Short Show--that they actually held the audience over and had him perform a second set, performing for a crowd of 10,000 in Golden Gate Park, and recently becoming the only comedian in the 30-year history of the San Francisco International Comedy Competition to win it a second time.
Nominated, six times for an American Comedy Award, Dom Irrera's stand-up material was honed in a multi-generational Italian household in South Philadelphia with his mother, sister, grandmother, uncles and cousins all under one very big roof. A great-grandmother even lived across the street. Together there were three floors and four generations of family.
His first big break was his performance on Rodney Dangerfield's "Nothing Goes Right" comedy specials for HBO. In 1989 Irrera's own HBO "One Night Stand" earned him his first CableACE award for Best Stand-Up Comedy Special. In '95 he won a second CableACE for the Showtime stand-up series he hosted, "Full Frontal Comedy". That same year he received a second CableACE nomination in the writing category for his work on Comedy Central's animated series, "Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist". He also starred in a solo stand-up special for HBO in '92 titled "Command Performance".
He has performed on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", "The Late Show with David Letterman", "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart", "The View", and has made several appearances on "Oprah". Recent credits include an all-new stand-up special titled "Comedy Central Presents", which aired on the cable network this past summer.
As an avid sports fan, he hosted four seasons of Comedy Central's irreverent football show, "Offsides", where he conducted hilarious on-the-field interviews with football greats. He also hosted Comedy Central's "Behind the Scenes at the American Comedy Awards: specials in '98 and '99.
Irrera was a series regular on the '98 Fox comedy "Damon" starring Damon Wayans and his guest-star credits include "Seinfeld" (he played an annoying prop comic needling Jerry in the memorable episode), "Becker", "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "King of Queens". In addition, Dom voices the character Ernie, the demolitions expert, on Nickelodeon's "Hey Arnold".
His film work includes a featured role in Robert Townsend's "Hollywood Shuffle", a cameo in the Coen Bros. Film, "The Big Lebowski", "The Fourth Tenor", starring old pal Rodney Dangerfield, and he played himself in the Rodney Dangerfield / Dom De Luise film, "The Godson".
Dom has performed at Montreal's prestigious "Just For Laughs Festival" and the "Cat Laughs Festival" in Kilkenny, Ireland (he's made more appearances at both festivals than any other American comic). He also has performed at the "Melbourne Comedy Festival" in Australia, and at "Edinburgh Festival's" Assembly Hall. It was there that he received the "Herald Award" for artistic excellence.
Born in Key West, Florida he was relocated to Hawaii after being only four months old. At the age of 6 1/2 months, Derrick had already started walking, causing his mother to lose her mind trying to keep up with her curious child. The family moved to San Diego, California where Cameron started his education, unleashing his energy on the San Diego public school system. He knew being in the principal’s office would be a common occurrence.
“People always asked if I was the class clown, no, I was the class comedian, the class clown did stupid things all year, where I did or said something funny and people still talk about to this day.” says Cameron.
Humor was always a part of his life. His father would always cause some havoc at any gathering the family attended. His mother is blessed with the ability to mimic anyone she meets with incredible accuracy. Growing up with funny parents set the foundation for his love of comedy. Cameron was addicted to television comedy. Hours lost in the land of Ha-Ha. “Watching the Tonight Show was my favorite, if there was a stand-up comic performing on the show, I always stayed up to watch. ” says Cameron “I recall one evening, at the age of fourteen, telling my mother that one day I will be on that show.” recalls Cameron.
“My first club performance was at the Comedy Store in La Jolla, California,” says Cameron. Shortly after becoming a regular at the Improv in San Diego, he decided to do comedy full-time. Before Cameron embarked on his new career, he listened to the advice of famed comic, Sinbad. He encouraged Cameron to use his recommendation to book his first month of work on the road. That first month has led to Cameron performing all over the world, some highlights for Cameron include appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Comedy Central,USO, and opening for musical legends.

Like a good Midwestern boy, I followed in my father’s footsteps and began working as a machinist in a tool and die shop. That was 1988. I knew that life wasn’t for me, but I grew up thinking that that was what I was supposed to do. One day, my boss stopped my my machine and suggested I go to the open mic night at a nearby comedy club. Maybe he was encouraging me, maybe he was thinking of firing me. Either way, that night changed my life. I got hooked and a year later left Milwaukee behind to travel as a stand-up comedian.
Those first few year were spent entirely on the road, going from one club to the next. I learned a lot about saving money…I learned I’m not good at it. Since then, I’ve become a headliner in all major U.S. Clubs and over 200 colleges. I’ve also traveled to 32 different countries, including Iraq in December 2003 entertaining our military troops with the USO. In addition, I’ve had the pleasure of performing for numerous associations and Fortune 500 companies including Toyota, 3M and Buick.
I have also done several different shows for Comedy Central,The King Of Queens, Chelsea Lately. In addition, I have starred in independent films and opened for such stars as Tim Allen, Damon Wayons, Ellen Degeneres and Drew Carey. Working with these comics inspired me to work toward developing a sitcom based on my stand-up comedy. Over the past three years, I have spent two years working with ABC and Touchstone (Disney), and most recently, a year working with UPN and Paramount, to create a show that is eerily similar to my own life-the story of a Milwaukee guy who challenges status quo and finds his own way.
